PDT, of Photodynamic Therapy, is known to be the most effective and long-lasting field treatment for pre-cancerous skin lesions (sunspots).
The procedure involves the application of a medicated cream which is allowed to absorb into the skin and then is activated with a specialized light source. The treatment is very effective in destroying pre-cancerous cells (sunspots). Two treatments at a fortnightly interval are required for optimal results.
It is very important to protect your skin from sunlight and other strong lighting in the days that follow treatment. If you are prone to cold sores an outbreak could be triggered by PDT.
